Heaval Race

Heaval Race 2009 - Saturday 11th July

The Heaval Race is a traditional Hill Race taking place on Barra for at least the last 40 years. The race starts and finishes in Castlebay Square. Those taking part run to the top of Heaval (383m) and back by whichever route they think is best. This year aims to open the race up to more people than ever with the addition of new categories and awards and the introduction of a "fun" element. There is Live music in the square both before and after the race and prizes are given at the Fisherman’s Dance the following evening.
If you would like to express an interest in taking part this year, either as a competitor or to help in the preperations then you can call Hella Bickle during the evening on 01871 810662.
